Writing this web log Sunday morning before the day’s games as off on hols after the Darlo v Chesterfield game. Let’s hope by the time you read this the results will have gone the way of the regions sides. On Boxing Day whilst Darlo were getting a very good point at Bury and Hartlepool were getting stuffed along with the turkey remains at Scunthorpe I went to the Riverside to see an appalling display from a Boro side who were devoid of confidence and containing several players who were either not good enough or not really wanting to be there.

To get over my Boxing Day hangover, I got up at 6am on Saturday and travelled up to Glasgow to witness a similar performance from a Rangers side devoid of width, pace and ideas against Celtic, who came for a point and mugged the home side. Another 1-0 home defeat. Not the best Christmas I have had so far.

It was good to see Danny Wilson back in the hot seat at Swindon, so quickly after being dumped by Hartlepool, you can’t keep a good man down, as I am sure Danny will prove.

On this week’s show I had many callers, two Boro fans John and Geoff who put me firmly in my place and told me that Boro have to sell Downing to create revenue to improve the ailing squad.  Scott and Ron assessed Darlo’s season to date and promotion prospects and we also caught up with Darlo’s Assistant Manager Martin Gray, on the team bus returning from Bury. It was clear that the club were far from happy with the performance of the Ref, reading in between the line she was bad for both sides.

John Durnin, the former Liverpool marksman and Masters goal scorer extraordinaire was my guest for “On the Spot”, he suggested Chopin as his choice of music to get him in the mood for a game. Typical Scouse humour, I am not sure that his second choice of Abba, was entirely serious either!!! After answering 10 quick fire questions we played his choice of music. During the course of the season I will be putting more players and also fans on the spot, so if you fancy doing a quick recorded interview with me, please get in touch.

As you can see from the web site we have developed a relationship with The Great Air Ambulance and William Hills, the bookies are giving me a series of Charity bets to try and make money for a very worthwhile cause. I was amazed to find out that this is a Charity and receives no public funding. At Durham Tees Valley they need to raise £ 1.2 million each year to provide what is a vital service that helps save lives everyday of the week. Each Saturday at 1.15 pm I will catch up with the boys from Billy Hills and I place my bets, they will appear on my web site each Wednesday so you can join me in having a flutter if you wish.

This week Darlo’s 2-2 draw at Bury, netted the charity £ 130, so something went right this Christmas. The obvious horse racing tip of Kauto Star duly obliged as well.

If you fancy being a guest on the show, please let me know.

I am steadily picking up a longer list of regular Darlo and Boro callers, why not add your name to that number?

Thanks for your calls, without them we would not have a show. I hope that I can encourage more of you to contact me after games. It’s the opinions of the true fans that I want.

If you missed the phone-ins you can catch up with them on the pod cast from Monday each week on www.alpha1032.com

To the competitions, this week we had are usual prizes to give away. The carvery for two at the Darlington arena, in “Jeff’s Meat and Two Veg”, was won by Snowy, he knew that it was Arsenal’s Adebayor who had been sent off against Liverpool.

The Half-time entertainment slot for a Meal for Two at a Jo Rigatonis restaurant of your choice was won by Bailey who knew that the music by Simply Red was with reference to the continued list of red cards.

Onto the match tickets, Sharon knew that Blyth Spartans were the team who knocked Bournemouth out of the FA Cup and she wins two tickets for Darlo’s game against them on Saturday

This weekend we will the usual meals and also match tickets for Boro v Sunderland on January 10th  2009.  To win any of these prizes check out the questions on the website www.alpha1032.com  NOW and enter today. Just look under the “What’s happening section” Get your entries in early.
